Matt Collier is a Partner at 5 Financial and leads the firm's finance broking team. He stepped into the partnership in July 2026, joining Managing Partner Jason Petersen in shaping the direction of the business. A natural next step for someone who first came to 5 Financial as a client.
That client experience is what brought Matt into broking. After decades in senior management and accounting roles across a range of industries, including TNT, Blueshyft and DXT, he saw first-hand what it means to have someone in your corner who simplifies the options and gives steady guidance. He made a deliberate career pivot to do the same for others.
Today Matt works with professionals and business owners on both sides of the lending picture. On the personal side: home loans, refinancing, bridging finance and investment property lending. On the business side: commercial loans, SME cash flow lending, asset finance and SMSF loans. As a finance broker working from our Rhodes and Sydney CBD offices, he takes on the parts of a loan most people find confusing so the decision itself feels clear.
What makes his role different is where it sits. At 5 Financial, finance broking works alongside wealth management and tax and advisory under one roof, so a lending decision is never made in isolation from the rest of a client's financial picture.
Matt holds a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking and Finance from Kaplan, a Graduate Certificate in Accounting from the University of Southern Queensland, and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting. He has also completed leadership training with Elkiem.
Outside the office, Matt is captain of Strathfield Golf Club and is happiest talking golf, food and wine, or sport of almost any kind.
